Boiled Egg - Bread Tikkis


















Boiled Egg – Bread Tikkis - A tasty shallow fried evening snack , made of boiled egg, whole wheat bread slices and spice powders. Best with Tomato ketchup or a plain snack with tea / coffee..

Makes: 5

Serves: 2 - 3

Ingredients

2  boiled  eggs, grated or finely chopped

2 whole wheat bread slices

1 onion (small size), very finely chopped (2 tablespoons very finely chopped onion)

2 tablespoons  coriander leaves, finely chopped (or a mix of mint and coriander leaves)

3/4 teaspoon red chilli powder

1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder

1/ 4 teaspoon amchur powder ( dried mango powder )

½ teaspoon garam masala powder

1/2 teaspoon salt ( or to taste )

2 tablespoon oil

Method

Immerse each bread slice in water for 15 seconds. Squeeze out and discard water. Break bread into tiny pieces. In a bowl, mix bread and all other ingredients except oil and make a soft dough.   Make 5 tikkis about 2¾ inch/7 cm in diameter, ½ inch/1.3 cm thick (or normal tikkis / like parippu vada).

Heat  1 tablespoon oil in a frying pan (tawa). Arrange tikkis and fry on a low heat for 8 - 10 minutes till golden color on each side. Sprinkle remaining oil when frying other side. Fry until golden color on both the sides.  Serve hot with tomato  ketchup.
